Signal Transduction

Signal Transduction

Signal Transduction studies all the pathways, sensing processes and the biological molecules that are involved in sending and receiving information from the outside of a cell to the nucleus and eliciting adaptive responses. The molecular circuitry of signal transduction cascades include three fundamental elements: cell surface receptors which receive information from the outside; intracellular second messenger molecules (such as cAMP, calcium, nitric oxide) which sense the activation of the receptor and amplify the signal (for example, by phosphorylation of a protein kinase); and specific effector molecules which trigger the desired cellular responses such as changes in enzyme activity, gene expression, or ion-channel opening/closing. These intracellular signaling events regulate virtually all cellular activities. Today’s drug discovery efforts have been focused on the manipulation of proteins involved in key cellular signaling cascades with the potential to prevent and treat some of the major human diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes among many others. Therefore, it is critical to have quality tools that make it easy to study factors involved in signal transduction.

AS ONE INTERNATIONAL offers a range of signal transduction research tools such as proteins, antibodies, assay kits, kinases, and kinase inhibitors to advance your signal transduction research.
